Funeral Services for Richard M. Nevins, age 89, of Chadron will be 10:00 AM on Monday, November 3, 2008 at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Dr. Russ Seger officiating.  Burial will be at the Hay Springs Cemetery A memorial has been established for the Chadron Home Health and Hospice. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Richard M. Nevins passed away at his home after a short illness on October 29, 2008.
 
Richard was born on January 29, 1919 to William and Mae Nevins of Sidney, Montana. He grew up on a farm and worked several jobs before enlisting in the Army Air Corp the day after Pearl Harbor. He served in several theaters of operation including North Africa, India, and Europe and was awarded the Bronze Star medal.
 
After the end of World War II, Richard worked for the United Airlines in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he married Velma Booth and later moved to Great Falls, Montana where he enlisted in the Air National Guard of Montana in which he rose to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant and retired in 1979.
 
After the death of his wife, he married Norma Clapp of Hay Springs in 1978.
 
Richard enjoyed traveling and maintaining machinery of all kinds and a hobby of making jewelry. Richard was always available to help his many step children and grandchildren with their projects.

Survivors –

Wife  Norma Nevins of Chadron.

Stepsons  Eldon Booth of Torrington, WY; Aubrey and Susan Clapp of Chadron; Lyle and Lynette Clapp of Edgemont, SD;  Mark and Tammy Clapp of Nevarre, FL. 

Stepdaughters  Kathy and Mike Darveau of Craig, CO: Valarie and Roger Temple of Chadron.

Numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren.

Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
