11/17/2008 - Myrle Ellison Fuller

Funeral Services for longtime Chadron resident and business woman, Myrle E. Fuller, will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Chadron Christian Church with Pastor Don Ludwick officiating.  Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.

Myrle Ellison Fuller was born in Elgin, Nebraska July 16, 1919 and passed from this earth November 13, 2008.  She was raised on the family farm west of Elgin by her parents with her two younger brothers.

After the end of World War II she married Athel Fuller when he returned home from the military.  They farmed near Chambers, Nebraska and then moved to the Mirage Flats near Hay Springs, Nebraska where they farmed in the newly formed Irrigation District. 

She moved with her husband and son to Chadron, Nebraska in 1957.  Myrle and Athel were residents of Chadron for nearly fifty years until they moved into Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs in 2006.

For over fifty years Myrle was an active member of the Chadron Christian Church.  She taught many children and was involved in many areas of service throughout her life.  She was a loving guide and mentor to many.  Many children in her church and community knew her as “Grandma”.  She was able to hold all five of her great grandchildren in her arms before the end of her life.

Myrle was well known for her extraordinary talent for hospitality.  From a ladies tea to large family dinners, she entertained many people over a span of decades.

One of Myrle’s greatest loves and talents was decorating cakes.  She baked and decorated thousands of cakes for family and friends.  She prepared and decorated many cakes for weddings.  Through the continuing education program at Chadron State College she taught many others her cake decorating skills.  Her quick wit and bubbly laugh kept others entertained as well as taught.

Myrle was one of the kindest, most caring people to live in her community.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her love of God and Christian commitment was evident in every aspect of her life.
