Funeral Services for Ardis Avalon Spracklen, age 83, of Chadron will be Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Congregational Church in Chadron with Dr. Russ Seger officiating. A memorial has been established for the Congregational Church of Chadron, Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, or the American Asthma Association. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
The family is asking for memorials to be made to the Congregational Church of Chadron, Pioneer Manor Nursing Hone of Hay Springs, or The American Asthma Foundation. Memorials may be made at the church or sent to The First National Bank of Chadron.
Ardis was born November 10, l925, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Floyd A. and Flora Merle (Rogers) Garfoot. She attended many schools, including Chadron Prep, graduating from Crawford High School. Ardis received her Bachelor’s degree from Colorado State College, at Greeley, Colorado. On August 11, 1948 she married Marvin Spracklen.
She enjoyed being an accountant in a number of settings, especially as manager of The Third Kearney Federal Credit Union in Kearney, Nebraska. She also was adjunct faculty at Kearney State College in the area of accounting. Her most beloved role, however, was that of being a homemaker, super mom for her girls, honorary mom for their buddies, and grandmother. Her gift of unconditional love, caring and giving are her legacy.

Husband- Marvin Spracklen of Chadron, Nebraska
Daughters- Susan & Greg Knights of Boise, ID; Linda & Ken Murphy of Rapid City, SD; Janine & Bob Balfour of Boise, ID.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
