12/31/2008 - Lucille T. McMeekin
Funeral Services for Lucille T. McMeekin, age 96, of Crawford will be Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Crawford with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating.
Burial will be at the Crawford Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church of Crawford or the Ponderosa Villa. Donations may be sent to Security First Bank of Crawford, P.O. Box 506, Crawford, NE 69339. Lucille was born on September 28, 1912 to Barney and Madeline (Lena) Zurn. She spent her childhood in Orella and attended high school there. On December 10, 1932 she married Joseph H. McMeekin in Ardmore, South Dakota. Joe and Lucille made their home on a ranch 18 miles north of Crawford. To this marriage, two children were born, Janice Hughes of Crawford, and Gary McMeekin of Alliance.
Lucille and Joe lived on the ranch until 1976 when they retired and moved to Crawford. She enjoyed embroidery and spent many hours attending her grandchildren’s numerous athletic and other events. In retirement, she spent many hours entertaining her great grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Since August of 2005, she has been a resident of lovingly cared for by the staff of Ponderosa Villa of Crawford, Nebraska.

Son- Gary and wife Linda McMeekin of Alliance, NE. Grandchildren- Roger and wife Laura Hughes of Princeton, NJ; Shari and husband Jeff Schlichtemeier of Ogallala, NE; Rommie and wife Cherey Hughes of Scottsbluff, NE; Lisa and husband Jeff Yosten of Norfolk, NE; Chris McMeekin of Omaha, NE. Great Grandchildren- Garrett and Laramie Schlichtemeier of Ogallala, NE; Ethan, Claire, and Evan Hughes, Maddison Hughes; Gavin, Avery, and Gage Yosten of Norfolk, NE. Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
