Mr. Gorr was born on June 14, 1916, to Leroy and Elsie Zimmerly Gorr in Chadron, Nebraska. He passed away on January 7, 2009 at Crestview Care Center.

Don attended Chadron High School, and graduated in 1932. Following his schooling, he began farming and ranching with his father on the family ranch northwest of Chadron on the White River. On October 6, 1937, Don married Helen Lindeken. They were the parents of two children, Karol and Lynn. In his many years as a steward of the land, he was a careful, hard working farmer, growing wheat and alfalfa, as well as a skilled mechanic and a rancher of long standing.

His wife, Helen, was his partner in his endeavors whether it be producing a large garden or feeding a few or a crowd on short notice. They continued living on the family farm until he and Helen moved into Chadron in 2004. Don and Helen lived at Prairie Pines in Chadron until Helen died in February 2006. Don was a resident of Crestview Care Center since February of 2007.
