01/17/2009 - Esther M. Wasserburger

Graveside Services for Esther M. Wasserburger, age 82, of Crawford will be Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Crawford City Cemetery with Father Bernard Berger officiating.

A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crawford immediately following the graveside service.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, January 16th at 7:00 PM at the church.

A memorial has been established for the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Esther Margaret Wasserburger was born at home in Orella, Sioux County, Nebraska on September 13, 1926, the youngest and only daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Carnahan-Wasserburger. She passed into eternity on January 13, 2009 at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford surrounded by her loving family.
 
Esther was a generous woman with a giving heart. She spent her life caring for her brothers, nieces, and nephews. She spent most of her life at Orella helping her brother, Lawrence, raise sheep. She spent six and a half years helping her brother, Cecil, raise his seven children. She lived in Crawford, next to her brother, Gene, for seventeen years, always keeping a careful eye on him. The last two years she spent at the Ponderosa Villa. She never quit caring about those she loved.

Nieces & Nephews- Mary and Gary Weaver of Conroe, TX; Walter and Sean Wasserburger of Lusk, WY; David and Theresa Wasserburger of Denver, CO; Cecil and Deana Wasserburger, Jr., of Fort Worth, TX; Lynn and John Lemmon of Valentine, NE; LaWayne and Doug Zeller of Chadron, NE; Jeannene and Merritt Schnell of Durham, NC.
