02/18/2009 - Ronald Lee Toof Sr.
Memorial Services for Ronald Lee Toof Sr., age 72, of Hay Springs will be Wednesday February 18, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Methodist Church in Rushville with Pastor Rod Heilburn officiating.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Rushville. A memorial has been established for The Make a Wish Foundation. Donations may be sent to P.O. Box 613, Rushville, Nebraska 69360. At the early age of sixteen Ron joined his father Vernon driving for Toof Transfer. He graduated from Hay Springs High in 1956. In 1957 he was united in marriage to Gleeh Williams at the United Methodist Church in Alliance, Nebraska. Ron continued trucking until his retirement. He traveled a million miles from coast to coast, including Canada and Mexico. During this time six children were born. Darwin D. Toof, June A. Toof, Candise L. Toof (Thies), Ronald L. Toof Jr., Jeanine L. Toof (deceased), Vaughn A. Toof.
Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a tireless worker, and a great provider. Ronald was responsible for teaching many young truckers how to drive semi. His truck was a playground for his children and grandchildren, who loved pretend driving and honking the horn. When Ron would come home or leave, he would always sound his horn.

Wife- Gleeh of Rushville, NE.
Sons- Darwin of Rapid City, SD; Ronald Jr. of Rapid City, SD; Vaughn and wife Tami of Alliance, NE. Daughters- June of Rushville, NE; Candise and husband Jack Thies of Rushville, NE. Twin brother Donald, and Chuck Sisters- Suzanne, Avis, Sandra.
Grandchildren- 13
Great Grandchildren- 6 Chamberlain-Drabbels of Hay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
