Mass of Christian Burial for Frances J. Wilcox, age 73, of Long Valley, SD will be Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Martin, SD with Father Bryan Sorenson officiating.
A vigil service will be Wednesday, April 1st from 5-8:00 PM at Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel in Rapid City, SD.
A rosary will begin at 7:00 PM.
Burial will be at the Martin Community Cemetery. A luncheon will follow graveside rites in the church hall of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.
A memorial may be sent to 23517 277th St., Norris, SD 57450.
She married Howard “Skee” Wilcox, Jr. on March 15, 1952 in Kadoka, SD. She raised 9 children and went on to further her education receiving a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Black Hills State University. She taught for 29 years and was involved in education for 35 years. In 2002 she retired to her ranch in Long Valley to enjoy her family and friends. Frances loved entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Leander Sears and Myrtle (Green) Sears- Dillon, her stepfather Robert Dillon, one sister, one brother, husband, and one son.
Frances was well known and loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Brother- Gene Dillon and wife Kate of Martin, SD. Daughters- Connie Fast Horse, Janyce Trask both of Long Valley, SD; Sheryl Lessert, Paula Nelson, Sheila Hahn of Martin, SD; Carol Wilcox, Kyle, SD. Sons- Robert “Swede” Wilcox of Long Valley, SD; Dwayne “Chuck” Wilcox of Rapid City, SD. Grandchildren- 20 Great-Grandchildren-27 She is also survived by her childrens’ spouses, significant others, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel of Rapid City, SD is in charge of arrangements.
