Funeral Services for DeOwn Grantham, age 77, of Chadron will be Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Dr. Russ Seger officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Don Ludwick officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Chadron Fire Department and the Chadron Hospice. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
DeOwn Clinton Grantham of Chadron died May 10, 2009 at his home after a battle with cancer.
DeOwn was born March 5, 1932 in Chadron, Nebraska to Charles Clinton, and Francis Grantham. He attended school at Chadron High School. On June 16, 1954, he married Joanne Alice Maika in Chadron. Two children were born to that union.
DeOwn worked for the Texaco station and also for his brother Milton in the greenhouse. He also worked for Mobil Oil, Soil Conservation, and worked for the city water department for 18 years. In 1980-1994 he worked as a mechanic instructor at the Job Corps.
After his fathers passing he & Joanne moved to the family farm.
DeOwn’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, and enjoying time with his three grandchildren.

Wife- of 54 years, Joanne Maika Grantham of Chadron, NE.
Daughter- Deb and husband Doug Weiss of Ainsworth, NE. Son- Edward and wife Christal Grantham of Germany. Grandchildren- Jennifer, Maikayla & Christopher. Sisters- Daisy Morgan, Mazie Cape. Brother- Leroy Grantham. Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
