Graveside inurnment for Dorothy Louise (Martin) Schultz, age 75, of Chadron formerly of Gresham, NE will be held at a later date at Gordon Cemetery for family friends.. 

 

A memorial has been established for the Chadron Fire Department, Chadron Home Health & Hospice or the donor’s choice.

 

She died on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at her home in Chadron. Dorothy was born August 5, 1932 in Goshen, Indiana. She moved with her family to Gordon, Nebraska in September 1944. She graduated from Gordon High School in 1950 then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1955 from Chadron State College. After graduating college she began her teaching career at Gresham Public Schools for 2 years. She married John Schultz Jr. on August 11, 1956.

 

Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gordon and Gresham, Member of Merry Mix-up 4-H club, and the Wesley Foundation. She belonged to the Alpha Phi Pi Sorority, Home Economics Club, and was chosen as Blue Key Sweetheart at Chadron State College. Dorothy was a member of Daughter of the Nile, and while teaching at Gresham. She coached volleyball and sponsored pep club.

 

Dorothy’s loves were her gardens, rose gardens, her family and friends, solving crossword puzzles, and baking Christmas breads for neighbors, family, and teachers.

Grandchildren- Talon and Chance Mak of Alliance, NE; Nathan and Emily Schultz of Gonzales, LA.

Sisters- Phyllis and Troy Green of Gordon, NE; Nancy & Marv Maul of Colorado Springs, CO.

Sister-In-Law- Janet Kee of Humboldt, TN.

Several nieces, nephews and friends
