06/19/2009 - Mary (Moody) Geiser
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary (Moody) Geiser, age 78, of Hot Springs, SD will be Friday, June 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, SD with Father Peter Kovarik officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 5-7:00 PM at McColley’s Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, SD.
A memorial has been established for the Oelrichs Ambulance.
Mary died at Fall River Hospital on June 12, 2009. She was born on March 10, 1931 on a ranch about 10 miles north of Crawford, NE, the last of Tom and Sara (Lutie) Moody's ten children which included 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
In 1949 she attended Chadron State College and later went to work at B & L Drug Store, Jacks Star Market Grocery and Crawford Medical Clinic. In 1950, she was crowned Crawford Rodeo Queen, and in 1951, met her best friend, the man she would spend 52 years of life together, Donald (Dick) Geiser. They were married April 19, 1953. They ranched on the Moody-Geiser ranch for almost 20 years near Oelrichs, SD, and were grateful for their many friends that they came to know there. They sold the ranch and moved to Oelrichs in 1976 where she worked at Bill’s Super Valu grocery store part time. They later moved to Hot Springs, SD to be near their children, where she would lose her husband to cancer at the VA Center in Hot Springs; the same disease that would take her life four years later. She now is at peace with her loving husband Dick.
