Funeral Services for Margaret Elizabeth (Price) Limbach, known affectionately as “Maggie”, age 90, of Crawford will be Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crawford with Father Bernard Berger officiating.
A wake service will be Monday, July 20th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crawford at 7:00 PM.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Crawford.
A memorial has been established for the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crawford. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Margaret Elizabeth (Price) Limbach, known affectionately as “Maggie”, of Crawford, died Friday, July 17, at Chadron Community Hospital.
She was born January 9, 1919, in Crawford to Ivan and Sadie Price. As a young girl she lived with her family on a ranch north of Crawford, and attended rural country school. In 1935, she graduated at the age of 16 from St. Agnes Academy in Alliance.
On December 14, 1941 she married William Limbach in Cheyenne, Wyoming. While Bill served during World War II, Maggie worked in a civil service capacity as a telephone operator. One of her highlights during this time was connecting President Roosevelt to the commander of Warren Air Force Base.
In 1945, Bill and Maggie returned to the Crawford area where they farmed and ranched. While spending many years raising children, cooking excellent meals, and entertaining numerous relatives, Maggie worked outside the home for local businesses including Crawford Livestock, McWilliams Dental Office, Rawhousers Clothing, Kings Drug Store, and Fort Robinson.
After Bill’s death in 1978, Maggie moved to town and continued working. At the time of her hospitalization, she was working as a volunteer at the Crawford Public Library.
She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Horn Club, and the Eagles Club serving as a past auxiliary president. She took great pleasure in her family, church, and friends. Maggie’s integrity and willingness to give of herself exemplified her life.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her son Bill Jr., brother Jim, and her parents.
Pallbearers were grandsons Eric Green, Mark McQuade, Zachary Limbach, Zane Limbach, and Andrew Limbach. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters Mary Theresa Amill, Stephanie Pelton, Amy Jensen, Natalie Miller, Melanie Addison, Marie Bissell, Zalie Limbach, Whitney Limbach, Jocelyn Limbach, Lindsay Limbach, Leigha Limbach, and Hayley Limbach.
Immediate Survivors:
Daughters- Barbara and husband Joel Schafer; Mary and husband Tom McQuade.
Sons- Bob and wife Barb Limbach; John and wife Catie Limbach; Greg and wife Jeanne Limbach. Brother- Steve Price Grandchildren- 17 Great Grandchildren- 34 Many friends, young and old, in the surrounding communities. Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
