H. Claywell Claussen, passed away on August 5, 2009 at his home east of Chadron. He was born on March 2, 1919 in Chadron, Nebraska to Herman J. and Hazel (Grantham) Claussen. He was the oldest of eleven children. Clay was raised south of Chadron in the Deadhorse area and lived his whole life in the area.
On February 23, 1941 Clay married Nellie Rose Raymer. He worked as a farmer/rancher for Reitz-Crites, and in 1971 he went to work for Harry Ritterbush Construction. He worked there until he retired. Clay was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nellie, parents, one sister Ramona Durham, and and infant brother and sister.
