08/22/2009 - Donald Irwin Adamson
Memorial Services for Donald Irwin Adamson, age 77, will be Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Wheatland, WY with Reverend Lori Modesitt officiating.
A memorial may be sent to: Donald I. Adamson Memorial Fund, c/o First State Bank, P.O. Box 39, Wheatland, WY 82201.
Mr. Adamson died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at his home in Wheatland, WY.
Donald was born May 20, 1932 in Valentine, NE the son of George Irwin and Selma Marie (Wickman) Adamson. He was reared and educated primarily in Cherry County and later moved to California where he graduated from San Pedro High School in 1950.
Don served in the United States Coast Guard for four years then moved to Cody, NE where he ranched with his family. In June of 1953, he married Robbie Jordan in Wilmington, CA. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced.
Don owned a sales barn and worked road construction for Peter Kiewit prior to marrying Joyce (Crane) Steward in October of 1975 in Las Vegas, NV. They moved to Wheatland in 1977 and purchased the Motel West Winds, retiring in 1998. Their retirement years were spent in Wheatland where he was an avid golfer and reader, and enjoyed the occasional trip to Las Vegas.

Children- Lynn and husband Roy Fitzgibbon of Chadron, NE; Pam Ray of Sidney, NE; Mark and wife Leesa Adamson of Valentine, NE.
Step-Children- Art and wife Kathy Steward of Cheyenne, WY; Lois and husband Bill Harris of Las Vegas, NV; Jeffery Anne and husband Allen Baker of Wheatland, WY.
Step-Sisters- Vivian Henry of CA; Diane Barnette of Lincoln, NE. Grandchildren- 17
Great Grandchildren- 34 Gorman Funeral Home-Platte Chapel of Wheatland, WY is in charge of arrangements.
