Funeral Services for Betty Loosbrock, age 76, of Chadron will be Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron with Father Tim Stoner officiating.
A rosary will be Thursday, September 24th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 7:00 PM.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Chadron.
A memorial has been established for the Richard Loosbrock Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations may be sent to the CSC Foundation, 1000 Main Street, Chadron NE 69337.

Betty (Doyle) Loosbrock of Chadron passed away on September 22 after a sudden illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Dr. Richard J. Loosbrock.
Betty was born in Kansas City, Missouri where she met and wedded Dr. Loosbrock on December 27, 1952. They moved to Chadron in the late '60s where Richard taught history at Chadron State College. They deemed Chadron as the perfect place to raise their growing family. Through the years she attended Girl Scout meetings, PTA, religious education classes, football and basketball games and track events - all in support of her various children's interests. She, as well as her husband, was involved in the Democratic Party in Nebraska. Betty was an active volunteer with St. Patrick's Church and with Birthright, a support group for women facing unplanned pregnancies. She was a member of the Chadron Culture Club for many years. Most Thursday afternoons found her at a bridge table with her friends. After Richard's retirement, the couple traveled extensively within the United States as well as four of the seven continents. She shared her husband's love of history. The two of them sought out trips, or created their own, that combined cultural and historical experiences. Betty's goal in life was a simple one, to be the best wife, mother and friend she could possibly be. All agreed she met this goal. Betty was a gracious hostess who provided hospitality to friend and stranger. Her gentle nature belied inner strengths. She was the family's firm foundation whom all the members called upon for her steady support, her unconditional love and her practical advice. Immediate Survivors:
Son- Stephen Loosbrock of Houston, TX.
Daughters- Stephanie and Rachel.
Daughter- Margaret McCaleb of Rapid City, SD and her husband Michael.
Daughter- Helen Powers of Hurst, TX, her husband Dickie and their daughters Tanya and Christine.
Daughter- Elizabeth Slown of Missoula, MT, her husband John and their daughters Erica, Kendra and Anna.
Daughter- Catherine Watts of Johnson City, TN and her children Michelle, Jessica, Samuel and Nathan.
Son- Richard Loosbrock of Alamosa, CO, his wife Ericha and their children Laura and Timothy.
Daughter- Carolyn Loosbrock of Colorado Springs and her partner Ernest Chavez.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
