David Alan Fisher was born in Fremont, NE, on September 30, 1958, to Burton and Helen Fisher.  He was raised in Fremont and Chadron, NE, graduating from Chadron High School in 1976.  Dave worked for Fisher Repair Service until opening an auto body shop in Chadron in 1984.  He moved to Colorado in 1988, where he worked as a foreman until moving back to Chadron in 1993.  Dave opened his own auto body business in 1994, where he worked until retiring in 2008.

As a businessman, Dave will be remembered for his work ethic and the uncompromising quality of his workmanship.   His family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and nephew.  Friends will remember Dave as a playful practical joker who enjoyed late night gatherings at his shop.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, writing, drawing, yard work, home improvement projects, a competitive game of Scrabble, and spending time with family and friends.

After being diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2007, Dave fought valiantly against it until his death on October 14, 2009.  He did not allow cancer to define him, and the courage and determination with which he lived his life in the face of it is an inspiration to all who knew him.  He was provided with exceptional end-of-life care by Chadron Home Health & Hospice.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Fisher, and father and step-mother, Burton and Hattie Mae Fisher of Chadron, NE.
