Ruby M. Seery passed away peacefully October 23, 2009 at the Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska.
Ruby was born September 20, 1922, in Montrose, Kansas. She was one of nine children born to Lawrence and Wilma Rothchild. Ruby's early education started in Kansas and continued after her family moved to Nebraska at the age of 10. She married Roy Seery, September 19, 1938, in Deadwood, SD. Two daughters were born to this union. Living on the family ranch south of Chambers, NE, Ruby developed habits and skills of a devoted mother and ranch wife. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and baking. Even though Ruby was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1977, it did not discourage her time in the kitchen, as friends and family still enjoyed homemade breads and jellies. She spent time crocheting rag rugs and always was ready for a good game of cards. As the paralysis of MS increased, Ruby become a resident of Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hay Springs, NE and later moving to the Good Samaritan Home in Alliance, Nebraska. Although the disease limited her physical activities, it never altered her strength, determination, sense of humor or her desire to help others.
