Memorial Services for Marjorie S. Lewis, age 88, of Crawford will be Thursday October 29, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Crawford, NE with Pastors Marsha Stauss and George Kilmer officiating.
A memorial service will also be held in Yutan, NE at a later date. Per Marge’s request, she will be cremated and internment will be in Yutan. A memorial has been established. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Marjorie S. Lewis passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home.
Marjorie was born June 22, 1921 in Yutan, Nebraska to John and Rose Stamp. She graduated from High School in Yutan. She attended Wayne State College, graduating with a degree in teaching and taught school in Fremont and Lyons, Nebraska, for many years. She was united in marriage to Howard Whorlow on August 23, 1942 in Meriden, Connecticut. To this union four children, Rodney, Rosadele, Diane and John were born.
Following the death of Howard, Marjorie married Claude J. Lewis on July 24, 1977 in Lyons, Nebraska afterwhich they made their home in Crawford. To this union, their family expanded to include Barbara, Kenneth and Rick, Claude’s children.
Marge continued her career by substitute teaching in the Crawford school system. She was known for her wonderful cooking as her pies added many pounds of love to her family and friends. They loved to travel and for several years she and Claude enjoyed being Arizona snowbirds. Marge was active with the Western Art Show at Fort Robinson State Park, and enjoyed bowling, playing cards and sewing. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Crawford and lived her love for Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Husband- Claude Lewis of Crawford, NE.
Children- Rod and wife Cheryl Whorlow; Rosadele and husband Mark Gude; John and wife Susanne Whorlow; Diane and husband Dale Larson; Barbara and husband Robert Goldman; Kenneth and wife Jackie Lewis; Rick Lewis and Wendy Williams. Brother- Winfred and wife Marian Stamp. Sister- Roslyn and husband William Kenkel. Grandchildren- 13 Great Grandchildren- 17 Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
