Funeral Services for Bryan Lee Terrell, age 33, of Hay Springs, NE will be Monday, November 30, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Mirage Flats with Pastor Pam Anderson officiating.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron. 

Burial will be at the Mirage Flats Community Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Hay Springs Schools Community Foundation or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary,  P.O. Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347. 

Bryan Lee Terrell, age 33, died at home surrounded by his family on November 24, 2009 after bravely fighting cancer for almost 2 years.

Bryan was born November 6, 1976 to Terry and LaDonna Terrell of rural Hay Springs, Nebraska.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Mirage Flats.  He graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1995 and then spent one year in Stralsund, Germany as a Rotary Exchange Student.

After returning, he attended the University of Nebraska where he earned both a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Agronomy.  He then attended Iowa State University to pursue a PhD, but after completing the classroom work, he decided his real desire was to return to the family farm on Mirage Flats.  Bryan came home and enjoyed farming with his parents, his aunt and uncle, and his cousins for 5 years.

During his school years, Bryan was active in football, basketball, baseball, National Honor Society, 4-H, and Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout at age 16.  While he was in college in Lincoln, he worked for the Department of Agriculture as the Coordinator of the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute for one year.  He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, an Ag Fraternity.  At Iowa State, he worked in research on forages and was able to travel to Costa Rica with a college group to see the different types of agriculture there.

Bryan was a member of the Nebraska LEAD XXVII class which he enjoyed very much.  Even though he was not able to go on the international trip with them, Bryan always enjoyed traveling and was able to go to fifteen countries including China with his family in 1994.  He loved history, reading, sports, playing cards, and most of all farming.

Parents- Terry and LaDonna Terrell.

Sister- Laurie and husband Patrick Ningen of Chappell, NE.

Nephew- Justin Ningen

Nieces- Ella and Chloa Ningen.

Grandparents- Loren and Betty Caylor of Edgemont, SD.

Aunts, Uncles & Friends- Many

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elvin and Emmajean Terrell.

Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary in Hay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
