Memorial Services for James D. Elder, age 53, of Kearney, NE will be Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney with Reverend Gary Main and Reverend Rebecca Hjelle officiating.
Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to a college fund for his children.

James D. Elder died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at his residence.
He was born February 3, 1956 in Rushville, NE to Max and Maxine (Denton) Elder. He lived in Clinton and attended school in Gordon. He was a 1974 graduate of Gordon High School and received an Associate degree as a radiologic technologist from Clarkson College in Omaha in 1993. On July 21, 1984, he married Marcia Moran in Gordon. They lived in Gordon before moving to Sheldon, IA in 1990 and Kearney in 2001. He was employed by Good Samaritan Hospital for 8 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He enjoyed watching his children in activities and being outdoors working in the garden, yard and around the house. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Max and brother, Leroy Shuster.

Son- Eric of Kearney, NE. Daughter- Haley of Kearney, NE. Mother- Maxine of Clinton, NE. Sisters- Janet Zuver and husband Leland of LaBolt, SD; Karen Dike of Lincoln, NE; Sheryl Matthes and husband Rick of Lincoln, NE; Loretta Brewer and husband Rex of Hot Springs Village, AR. Brother- Paul "Bo" and wife Renee of Blue Ridge, TX. Mother-In-Law- Donna Moran of Kearney, NE. O'Brien - Straatmann Funeral Home of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
