Graveside services for Robert “Bob” Rutten of Hemingford, age 79, will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Hay Springs City Cemetery with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating.
A memorial gathering will be held after the services at the Hay Springs American Legion.
A visitation will be Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary in Hay Springs.
A memorial gathering will be held at 5:00 PM at the Hemingford Legion Post. A memorial has been established for the Hemingford Volunteer Fire Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary, P.O. Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.

Robert Rutten died on Monday afternoon, March 1, 2010 at Box Butte General Hospital on Alliance. He was born on February 5, 1931 and raised on the farm south of Hay Springs. He married Dorothy Olson in 1952, and the couple had four children. Following Dorothy’s death in 1986, Robert married Mary Lliteras in 1987. They moved to Hemingford in 1988. Following Mary’s death in 2001, Robert met his personal angel, Alvina Lehl, in 2002 and the couple spent the rest of his time together.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Martha Rutten, Brother Leonard, son Kirk, wife Dorothy and wife Mary.

Personal Angel- Alvina Lehl.
Son- Kirk D. Rutten of Harvest, AL. Daughter- Alois M. Harris of Sun City, AZ; Traci A. and husband Ron Christoffersen of Azle, TX. Sisters- Marion Davis of Kingston, MA; Lorrine Chappell of Sterling, CO. Sons- Charles, Don, Joe, and David Lliteras. Daughter- Roberta Weisgerber. Grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews- Numerous Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary of Hay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
