Funeral services for Orvis Daniel Johns, age 80, of Gordon will on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Gordon with Pastor Kevin Burkhardt and Reverend Al Trucano officiating.
Burial will be at the Gordon Cemetery.

Orvis Daniel Johns was born February 19, 1930 in Gordon, Nebraska to Alvin and Mabel (Hunt) Johns. He was the fourth of five children. Orvis passed away at age 80 on April 3, 2010 at Harlingen, Texas.
Orvis lived his entire youth in the Gordon area. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea in 1953, he married Peggie Lou Spindler. To this union three daughters were born, Debra, Sharon, and Carolyn. Orvis worked for the US Postal Service for many years and then he worked for KN Energy Natural Gas Company. He retired from KN in 1991. He and Peggie spent his retirement traveling and wintering in San Benito Texas. Orvis and Peggie loved to take long trips with their grandchildren. Peggie died in 1999. In 2001, Orvis married Lu Decker of Gilman, Illinois. Orvis and Lu lived in Illinois and continued to spend their winters in Texas and summers with grandchildren and family. Orvis enjoyed every moment of his life, spending time with family and friends. He also loved to travel and camp.
His wife Peggie, his parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

Wife- Lu Daughters- Debra Ainslie of Chadron, NE; Sharon and husband Monte Dexter of Alliance, NE; Carolyn and husband Dan Seidler of Burke, SD.
