Shirley was born on May 18, 1935 and God took her home on April 26, 2010. She was the second child born to Bruce and June (Reid) Morris. She was baptized and confirmed in the LutheranChurch and served many years with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Ladies’ Aid.

Shirley graduated from
GordonHigh School where she was very active in drama. She married William Anton Rasmussen on August 15, 1954 and they were blessed with two sons, Stuart William and Dwight Aaron. Together they labored to expand their farming and ranching operation. Shirley’s life’s work was the care and education of children. She earned her teaching certificate from ChadronNormal School
and taught school before her marriage. After her boys were grown, Shirley began a career with the Head Start program and eventually retired from her position with Health and Human Services. Bill and Shirley were very supportive of their sons in all activities, traveling across the state to encourage them. This tradition continued with the arrival of their grandchildren.

Shirley was a true optimist and her positive attitude encouraged her family throughout the years. She faced struggles and health problems with perseverance and faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William in September 2009; her father, Bruce; her brother, Larry; and sister, Marilyn Zlomke; brother-in-laws Gene Harris, Vernon Hindman, and William Metzger.
