04/28/2010 - Frederick W. (Bill) Olbricht

Funeral services for Frederick W. “Bill” Olbricht, age 95, of Crawford will be Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Harrison Bible Church with Pastor Matt Parker and Don Mathis officiating.
 
Burial will be at the Glendale Cemetery with Military Honors.

A memorial has been established for the Harrison Bible Church. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Frederick William “Bill” Olbricht, 95, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford. 
    
Bill was born at Marsland, Nebraska, October 12, 1914 to Frank and Minna (Rohde) Olbricht. He grew up seven miles south of Glen, Nebraska. He received his education at District #33, Marsland, Crawford, and the Stiller District. Bill entered the Army on October 15, 1941 and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received during World War II, while serving as a machine gunner for the 7th Calvary of the US Army in the Solomon Islands.
    
He married Frances Eleanor Kreman on June 7, 1947. In 1963, they moved to Mitchell, Nebraska. In 1976, Bill retired from Great Western Sugar Company and they moved back to Glen. Bill was very active in the Harrison Bible Church and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, D.A.V., Sioux County Historical Society and an active volunteer for Ponderosa Villa. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and playing cards. Bill had a stroke in March of 2006, and went to reside at Ponderosa Villa in May 2006.

Wife- Frances Olbricht of Crawford, NE.
 
Sons- Lennis Olbricht of Aurora, CO; Glen Olbricht of Newton, KS; Kim Olbricht of Bayard, NE.
 
Daughter- Cheryl Collins of Gillette, WY.
 
Brother- Frank Olbricht of Crawford, NE.
 
Grandchildren-11
Great-Grandchildren- 14
 
Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Henrietta and one brother Ernest.
 
Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
