05/19/2010 - Myron P. Lembke-Services Pending
Myron P. Lembke, age 67, of Chappell, NE and formerly of Bridgeport died Sunday evening, May 9, 2010 at the Sedgwick County Memorial Hospital in Julesburg, CO with his family by his side.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service may be scheduled at a later date. Condolences and tributes of sympathy may be sent to the family in care of Gehrig-Stitt Chapel, P.O. Box 151, Sidney, NE 69162.
A memorial is being established by the family.
Myron Paul Lembke, the son of Carl George and Martha Marie (Lichte) Lembke was born on November 27, 1942 at Chadron, NE. He grew up on the family farm near Hemingford and attended grade school at Cottonwood District. He graduated from Prep High School in Chadron, NE in 1960 and then graduated from Chadron State College with a bachelor of science in education of math and industrial arts. He was united in marriage on July 16, 1964 in Chadron to Elmeda Ann Brott of Crawford, NE. Myron and his wife taught school for thirteen years on the Wind River Indian Reservation at Ethete, WY. When Myron finished his master’s degree in administration at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, he took a job as principal at Jeffrey City, WY, followed by a secondary principal position at Hayes Center, NE and then in 1982 he became the elementary principal at Bridgeport, where he remained until his retirement in 2005.
Throughout Myron’s career as an educator and principal he was nominated for teacher of the year, received the Region V Nebraska Association of Distinguished Elementary School Principal Executive Board Award. His philosophy was “All students can learn and succeed if given the opportunity and the help that they need.” He served on school improvement teams, made the elementary school handicap accessible, incorporated Leadership Programs for students and staff, raised funds for new playground equipment, computers, refrigerated water fountains, remodeled the elementary library and installed a computer checkout system, and remodeled restrooms and made them handicap accessible. Myron served as Transportation Director, Special Education Coordinator, 504 Director, School Improvement Chairman and incorporated and ESL program. Myron was involved with 4-H activities and leadership for many years and thought 4-H was valuable activity for children to build leadership and thinking skills.
Myron loved farming and animals and was always involved in farming or helping with farming. He and his wife Ann, and son Ryan, farmed southwest of Bridgeport for twenty years. During his time of farming he served on the North Platte NRD Board for eight years, and was appointed by the Governor to the State Water Commission where he served as Vice President for four years.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, (1) brother: Carl; (2) sisters-in-law: Ethel and Kay Lembke and a special aunt: Minnie Lichte. Immediate Survivors:
Wife- of forty-five years: Ann of Chappell, NE. Family- Ryan of Big Springs, NE who was his constant companion, friend and business partner; Lacie, a dear daughter-in-law, and his precious granddaughter Augastina of Big Springs, NE. Christy Collins a very dear grown granddaughter, and a precious great-grandson Blake Collins of Bridgeport. Other very special people in his life were Hope Doyle and Sebastian Moncada of Scottsbluff, NE, and many special supportive friends.
Brothers- Roy (Le) Lembke of Havre, MT; Wayne (Roberta) Lembke of Chadron, NE; Robert (Vi) Lembke of Hemingford, NE.
Sisters- Glendoris (Ross) Rash of Udall, KS; Karen (Jerry) Calkins of Mulvane, KS. Numerous nieces and nephews. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Services is in charge of Myron’s care and funeral arrangements.
