Funeral services for Mabel Arlene “Tootie” Partridge, 94, of Harrison will be Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the HarrisonBibleChurch with Pastor Matt Parker officiating.
Burial will follow at the HarrisonCemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Harrison Ambulance Fund or the HarrisonBibleChurch. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE69337.

Mabel joined our Heavenly Father on May 14, 2010. She was residing at CrestviewCareCenter in Chadron, where she was receiving respite care.
She was born on November 15, 1915, in Fairfax, SD, the third of eight children to Jake and Ethel (Billeter) King. Mabel was raised in northern South Dakota. She was not a college graduate, but was the Number One teacher of “Life’s Lessons 101.” Mabel was working as a waitress in Martin, SD, when she met her life partner, Alfred Fletcher “Pard” Partridge. They were united in marriage in July of 1942 when Mabel moved to be with Pard in Oakland, California where he was stationed in the Army. In April of 1943, they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Rosalind Karleen. Now living in Oregon, Mabel and Karleen were left alone as Pard was sent to India. Later when Pard was sent home, the family settled in Harrison, Nebraska. Together they built a business that will be remembered as the Hi-Way Garage. Mabel was the head bookkeeper and Pard’s right hand man until they sold the business for so-called retirement. Mabel and Pard soon owned a trenching and backhoe business which they operated for 10 more years.
Mabel was a member of the Ladies’ VFW and served for 20 years cleaning the Harrison Ambulance. She also enjoyed farming and ranching, gardening, spoiling her grandchildren and great-granchildren, and cooking. One of her greatest loves was God’s creatures, large and small. No cat, dog, horse, cow, or even a skunk or ant went hungry or thirsty if Mabel was near.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Ethel King; her husband, Pard; five sisters, Hazel, Babe, Venus, Marcella, and Crystal; two brothers, Dale and Gerald; and a great-granddaughter, Payton.
Immediate Survivors: Daughter- Karleen and husband Dean of Harrison, NE
She loved teaching respect and honor to her grandchildren, Michele and husband Don Nolan; Andrea and husband Ted Olson; and Justin and wife Kelsey (Dunn) Didier. Great-Grandchildren- Derek and wife Tarah, Drew, Kayla, Brianna, Spencer, Brandt, and Tyson. Nieces, Nephews, family and friends- Many Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
