A Celebration of Life for Dorothy “Dode” Harris, age 82, of Scottsdale, AZ; formerly of Crawford will be on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Congregational Church in Crawford with Pastor Bill Bagley officiating.
Burial will be at the Crawford Cemetery.

Dode passed away at the Hospice of the Valley, Brighton Gardens, Scottsdale, Arizona on March 11, 2010. She was born February 12, 1928 in Madison, Wisconsin to Wright and Lucile (Knapp) Lathrop.
The family returned to Crawford, Nebraska in 1935 where she graduated from high school in 1946 and from the University of Nebraska in 1950. She was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. On June 11, 1950, she was married in the Crawford Congregational Church to Max Eugene Harris. She was employed as a medical secretary to a group of surgeons in Omaha, Nebraska, while Max attended medical school.
Following graduation and internship in San Bernardino, California, they lived in Enid, Oklahoma, while Max was stationed at Vance AFB. After five years of surgical residency and a year of vascular surgery fellowship, they returned to St. Paul, Minnesota where Max practiced surgery until retirement in 1989. Dode was active in the Ramsey County Medical Auxiliary, served as president of Miller Hospital Auxiliary, and as a hospital volunteer. She was also a member of the Executive Board of Minnesota Arthritis Foundation and president of the North Oaks Women’s Golf Association 9 Hole Group.
Dode and Max have lived in Crawford, Nebraska and Scottsdale, Arizona since retirement. She has been involved in many community activities and an active member of Crawford Historical Society, P.P.D.C., Chamber of Commerce, Hospital Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, RSVP, The Congregational Church, and O.E.S.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother John Lathrop.

Husband- Max of St. Paul, MN.
Son- Scott Harris of St. Paul, MN.
Twin Daughters- Luci Harris and Lori Pettit of St. Paul, MN.
Grandchildren- Kyle and Lisa Harris; Timothy Wright Pettit.
Great-Grandson- Caden Oliver.
Brothers-in-law- Todd and Dean Harris.
Many nephews and nieces.
Messinger Indian School Mortuary of Scottsdale, AZ & Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
