Memorial services for June Morris, age 99, of Gordon will be Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain-Pier Chapel, Gordon, NE with Celebrant Harlen Wheeler officiating.

 

Inurnment will be at the Gordon Cemetery.

 

A memorial has been established for the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home. Donations may be sent to: Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.

 

June Morris died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs, Nebraska. She was born June 8, 1911, in Rushville, Nebraska, to Edwin and Olive (Evans) Reid. June was baptized April 29, 1923 and confirmed April 10, 1927, in the Rushville Evangelical Lutheran Church.

 

On November 27, 1931, she and Bruce Morris were married at Hot Springs, South Dakota. To this union were born six daughters and one son. 

 

June taught school for several years and was active in the affairs of school, church, and community. She was also a 4-H leader for eleven years and enjoyed serving on the committee that prepared Gordon's Centennial Book.

 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bruce in 1989; a son Larry, two daughters Shirley and Marilyn, a brother and 3 sons-in-law, Gene Harris, Bill Metzger and William Rasmussen.

Daughters- Donna Lee and husband Dave Moore of Crawford, NE; Sandra and husband Rex Kollmorgen of Toledo, OH; Lenore and husband Ted Kayton of Holdrege, NE; Carol Metzger of Gordon, NE,.

Son-in-law- Ray (Barb) Zlomke of Batesland, SD.
