Funeral Services for Sibyl Sager formerly of Rushville will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11:0 a.m. at the Gordon American Legion, Gordon, NE. Burial will be at the Extension Cemetery, Whiteclay, NE

 

Sibyl Arlene Sager, age 98, of rural Estelline, SD passed on Sunday July 11, 2010, at the home of Arlene and Ron Freesemann where she resided for the last three years.

 

She was born to Laura and Henry Fulton on August 30, 1911 at their home in Pierce County, NE. The family moved to a farm near Upton, WY, when she was a year old and this is where she received her formal education. She then went to work in Pine Ridge, SD and that is where she met her husband Clifford Sager. After their marriage on June 17, 1936. she kept busy being a homemaker and raising their eight children on a ranch north of Rushville, NE.

 

In 1965 they moved to Rushville where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast store until they retired in 1969. After Clifford's death in 1976, Sibyl continued to make Rushville her home until moving to the Estelline area.

 

She is survived by three of her children, Vernon Sager and his wife Carol of Porcupine, SD, Arlene Freesemann and her husband Ron of Castlewood, SD, Francis Sager and his wife Mary of Edmond, OK; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Sibyl was preceded in death by her husband Clifford; three daughters, Shirley, Elinor and her husband Lee and Ruth; two sons, LeRoy and Wilbur; one granddaughter Gayle; two grandsons, Clinton and Ernic; and two sisters and three brothers.
