Funeral services for Myron Cate, age 79, of Hay Springs will be Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the New Hope Friends Church located south of Hay Springs with Reverend Gene Vanhuss officiating.
Burial will be at the Hay Springs Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the New Hope Friends Church. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary, P.O. Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.

Myron W. Cate, 79, of Hay Springs, Nebraska died peacefully at home on Friday, August 20, 2010. Myron was born on February 23, 1931 in Manchester, NH. He was a resident of Raymond, NH until he joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served his country in both the Navy and then the Air Force during the Korean War. Myron’s patriotism and strong love of American Freedom was seen as he was known to even carry a copy of the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution in his pocket.
At the age of 19, Myron accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and devoted the remainder of his life to following Christ in complete devotion.
On My 16, 1954 Myron married Elsie Coleman. The couple suffered a tragic loss in 1961 when a flash fire completely destroyed their home in Raymond, NH, taking the lives of three of their young children.
Myron owned Cate’s Rubbish Removal Inc. for 43 years. He was a visionary as he was the first rubbish hauler to institute recycling in New England in the early 1950s. His creed was “Look forward, not backwards. If one way doesn’t work, try another.”
In 1996 he sold his rubbish business in order to pursue his lifelong dream of cattle ranching and farming. He and his son, Timothy Cate, enjoyed ranching for several years in Hay Springs, Nebraska where Myron passed away. Although Myron had dairy farmed in Vermont in his early years, he loved Nebraska for the fields with no rocks, the beautiful sunrises and the peaceful farm life he found there.
Myron was an active Gideon and had been a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Raymond Baptist Church. He was a faithful and beloved husband to his surviving wife Elsie Coleman Cate for 56 years. He also left behind his son Timothy Cate and daughters Sherri Cate Campbell and Vicki Cate Feinn.

Son- Timothy and wife Susan Cate of Hay Springs, NE.
Daughters- Sherri Rae and husband Reverend John Campbell of Pendleton, SC; Vicki Marie and husband Benjamin Feinn of Louisville, KY.
Brothers- Carl, Jr.; John; James Cate
Sisters- Eileen Dalton; Sandra Courtemanche; Jane Bassett
Grandchildren- 13
Great-Grandchildren- 8
