Funeral services for Ruth “Jake” Alice Claussen, age 75, of Chadron will be Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Pastor Don Ludwick officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Chadron Fire Department. Donations may be sent to the Chadron Federal Credit Union, 126 E. 3rd Street, Chadron, NE 69337.

Ruth “Jake” Alice Claussen, age 75, of Chadron, Nebraska passed away on August 27, 2010 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Jake was born October 27, 1934 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to Leland and Alice (Liske) Walgren. She grew up in the Hay Springs/Chadron area. Jake married John W. Claussen, February 5, 1953. They made their home in Chadron where Jake had many different jobs. She worked for Ideal Market, Daisy Queen, and spent many years working for Downs Paint and Wallpaper store. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed painting and sewing, and most of all her family.
Jake took pride in her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She spent many summers at Angostora Lake where the family created life long memories. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Senior Center playing cards, Bingo, and Pekeno. Jake was a member of the Chadron American Legion Auxiliary, and BPO Does.
Jake was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Leland Walgren, brothers Don Walgren, Raymond “Tuffy” Walgren, and Frank Walgren.

Husband- of 57 years, John W. Claussen Daughter- Pam and husband Tom Emick of Chadron, NE.
Son-Curt Claussen of Chadron, NE. Brother- Delmer and wife Peg Walgren of Hay Springs, NE. Sisters- Mary Ann and husband Andy Anderson of Casper, WY; Willa Johnson of Rapid City, SD. Many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Grandchildren- Lisa, Tara, Casie, Chandra, and Jared.
Great-Grandchildren Kiara, Jacee, and RJ. Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
