Funeral services for Hope Brooker Anderson, age 91, of Chadron will be Friday, September 3, 2010 at 1:30 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chadron with Pastor Steve Meysing officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chadron.
A memorial has been established for the Dawes County Historical Society or the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, Nebraska 69337.

Hope Brooker Anderson passed away August 30, 2010 at Crestview Care Center in Chadron.
Hope Anderson was born at the family ranch north of Cody, Nebraska on July 4, 1919, to George W. and Amy (Noe) Brooker. She was the fourth of five children. She attended Cody schools, graduating from Cody High School in May of 1937. She then attended Chadron State College, graduating with her teaching credentials in 1941. During her college years, she played field hockey, participating in a life-changing Geography Tour of the Western states with Dr. Hanna, and trained as Cherry County’s first female pilot with the C.A.A. She was proud of receiving her private pilot’s license. After her college years, she taught school for two years at Merriam High School. The first year, she also served as Principal. Her second year, she was both a teacher and the Superintendent of that school. Her mother taught her the value of education and Hope passed that along to her family and her students.
In June 1943, she married William L. Anderson, a rancher from Dawes County. Hope and Bill had three sons; Jerry, Dale, and Danny Joe. While her sons were young, Hope served as a 4-H leader. After Danny Joe started school, Hope went back to teaching Language Arts: first at Hay Springs High School, and then at Chadron Middle School until her retirement in 1982.
Throughout her long life, Hope enjoyed her family, friends, card parties, dancing, tole painting, gardening, traveling, reading, and former students. One of her greatest joys in later years was visiting with former students! She was an active member of the BPOE Does, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Dawes County Historical Museum, the Red Hat Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Hope was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister, her husband Bill, and a granddaughter Debra Lynn Anderson.
Immediate Survivors:
Sons- Jerry L. Anderson and his wife Betty and their children; Angie (Todd) and Scott Anderson; Dale W. Anderson and his wife Pam and their children, Elizabeth (George) Anderson, Dr. Anna Katherine (Matt) Egging, and Laura (Brad) Anderson-Beguin; Joe and his wife Bev and their children, Amanda Anderson and Danielle Anderson. Great-Granddaughters- Ashton, Payton Hallsted, and Hazel Anderson-Beguin.
Many nieces and nephews. Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
