09/16/2010 - Joe Masek

Funeral Services for Joseph Herbert Masek, age 90, of Chadron will be Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chadron with Branch President Ottley Wright officiating.
 
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
 
A memorial has been established at the First National Bank of Chadron to be donated to the Perpetual Education Fund. Donations may be sent to the First National Bank of Chadron, P.O. Box 1251, Chadron, NE 69337.

Joseph Herbert Masek passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Chadron Hospital.
 
Joe was born on the home place south and west of White Clay on October 4, 1919 to Joseph S. and Josephine (Josie) Masek.   He attended a one-room country school until going to Rushville High School. He married his sweet heart of 70 years, Yvonne Arline Chulk of Chadron, on August 21, 1940. He and Arline moved to Walla Walla, Washington during the summer of 1941. 
 
In 1943 during World War II he was inducted into the US Army.   He served in the Philippine Islands and was honorably discharged on February 19, 1946. He and Arline returned to Chadron where he worked at Metal Products Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1984.   His hobbies included bee keeping, hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has been the Post Commander of the VFW in Chadron seven times.

Wife- Yvonne Arline Masek of Chadron, NE.

Sisters- Mary Sager of White Clay, NE; Alice Howel of Tucson, AZ; Mildred Dawkins of Chadron, NE.
 
Children- Fred & and wife Sue Masek of Parker AZ; Marshall and wife Kay Masek of Arvada, CO; Rennee and husband Greg See of Eugene, OR; Annette and husband Mike McLaughlin of Portland, OR; Brad and wife Tara Masek of Overland Park, KS.
 
Grandchildren- 16
Great Grandchildren- 29
 
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
