Funeral Services for Dale Thomas Brown, age 83, of Whitney will be Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the CrawfordMethodistChurch with Reverend George Kilmer officiating.
Burial will be at the CrawfordCemetery.

Dale Thomas Brown passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at the ChadronHospital.
He was born June 6, 1927 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Thomas and Helen (Simons) Brown. As a young boy, he lived at his grandparents’, Raner and Mary Simons. He also lived in Chadron and Crawford. He attended CrawfordHigh School in 1945. While in high school, he was active in football and basketball. During his junior year, the basketball team won the class “C” championship. Both his junior and senior years, the football team qualified for the state play-offs. He was a class leader and continued in this role all his remaining years, organizing the yearly Alumni gatherings for his class.
He began college at Chadron State College and was a member of the football team until the night before their first game when he enlisted in the Air Force, much to Coach Ross Armstrong’s dismay! He served two years and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his honorary discharge in 1947, he started farming and ranching on his Grandparent’s place in Whitney where he remained until the day he passed away.
On August 9, 1953, he married Donna J. Larsen in Springview, Nebr. To this union, two daughters were born: Lori Lei and Lyndi Lu. Dale was active in many organizations. He was instrumental in getting the waterline into the town of Whitney. He was a member of the American Legion and served on the CrawfordMethodistChurch board of trustees. He enjoyed all of his many activities, but the most important things to him were his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Paul Larsen, and great-grandson Carter Richardson.
Dale will be greatly missed by all who knew him and were a part of his life.

Sister-in-law- Pat and husband Dale of Ansley, NE.
Brother-in-law- Bud and wife Marilyn of Springview, NE.
Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
