Graveside services for Margaret Garrett, age 83, will be Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the HaySpringsCemetery with Pastor Seth Leypoldt officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary in Hay Springs from 5-7:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Hay Springs Ambulance Fund. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.

Margaret Garrett, age 83, of Hay Springs died Nov. 11, 2010 at Rapid CityRegionalHospital. Some time prior to her death she wrote the following: Margaret was born north of Morrill, NE to Burl and Pauline (Koch) Gayman on Sept. 8, 1927. She attended school at Liberty and Pleasant Grove and graduated from MorrillHigh School in 1946. Margaret married Don Garrett and they had three children, Steve D., Lee, and Mary. All were baptized in the Huntley, WY Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joe Degi. Don helped build the church and manse for Rev. Joe. In 1964, the family moved to Hay Springs after farming with Clyde Garrett.
Margaret went to work at the Hay Springs Post Office as a clerk in 1969 and in 1979 was named Postmaster until she retired in 1989. Each customer was special and all the kids that came in got a lollipop. She loved all the babies and weighed them on the scale. For Reverend Trucano she always had a postage stamp in her billfold for him.
Immediate Survivors:
Steve (Frieda) Garrett of Kingman, AZ; Lee (Deloris) Garrett of Hay Springs, NE; and Mary (David) Faron of LaJunta, CO; three beautiful granddaughters, Amber, Jodie, and Janet; one grandson, John; brother, Sam and his son Aaron; sister, Eva (Larry) Ellis of California; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brothers, Fred and Glen; sister, Freida; sister-in-law, Juliett Gayman; and brother-in-law, Wes Kellums.
