Funeral services for Gordon B. Pinney, age 86, of Whitney will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Dr. Russ Seger officiating.
Masonic services will also be held at this time at the Chapel.
Burial will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
A memorial has been established for the Chadron, Crawford, or Hay Springs Rescue Unit or the Donor’s Choice. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Mr. Pinney passed away on December 23, 2010 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hay Springs.
Gordon was born on October 6, 1924 in Alliance, Nebraska to Ralph Bailey and Bessie Sarah (Remender) Pinney. He went to elementary school in rural school north of Crawford. He attended Crawford High School and graduated from there in 1941. He also attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Gordon enlisted in the Army on April 9, 1943 and was honorably discharged on October 4, 1945. During his time in the Army he was a POW for 5 months after being captured in the Battle of the Bulge. On March 6, 1949 Gordon married Patricia Mary Mammen. To this union, three children were born. A daughter, Nancy, and two sons, Ralph and Sidney. Gordon was a lifetime member of Masonic service.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Patricia.
His survivors include daughter, Nancy Adler of Chadron, Nebraska; Ralph (Pam) Pinney of Westminster, Colorado, Sid (Cynthia) Pinney of Roseville, California; Sister, Marion Shumway of Alliance, Nebraska; eight grandchildren and four great-granchildren, and also numerous nieces and nephews.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
