Funeral Services for Garfield Thomas Brown, Jr., age 51, of Pine Ridge, SD will be Friday, February 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD with Mr. Charles McGaa officiating.

A one night wake will be Thursday, February 17th at 3:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD.

Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD.

Garfield T. Brown, Jr. was born at home in Kadoka, SD to Garfield Brown, Sr. and Zona (Wilcox) Brown. He was delivered by his paternal Grandmother, Lena Iron Elk. He attended school at Red Cloud. He also attended various Vocational Schools, and was a great cook, after attending Culinary Art School in North Dakota. Garfield was a very rambunctious man who lived life to the fullest and had a great sense of humor. His self given Lakota name was “Witko Ha Ha Ha.” He could be seen around Pine Ridge visiting members of the community. He could also be seen visiting the people in White Clay. He was one of the founding members of the “Brown Tumblers.” Garf Jr. loved being around his nieces and nephews. He was a good grandpa who enjoyed being around his Takojas and babysitting them. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in Death, father, Garfield T. Brown, Sr.; brothers, Elgin Brown, Sr., Lester Brown, Sr.; nephews, Reuben Brown, Steven Brown, and Orrie Two Bulls; niece, Alicia Provost.

Sisters: Roselyn Swan of Rapid City, SD; Dorothy (Francis) Two Bulls; Bonnie Brown; Serene (Irv Provost) Brown all of Pine Ridge, SD; Doreen (Orren Provost) Two Bulls of Porcupine, SD.

Brothers: Fred (Jean “Sugar”) Brown, Sr.; Harold (Sally) Brown; Richard Brown all of Pine Ridge, SD.

Son: Donny Red Paint of Rapid City, SD.

Grandson: William Jake Brown of Pine Ridge, SD.
