03/01/2011 - Ada Louise Fry

Funeral services for Ada Louise Fry, age 85, of Gordon, will be Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home in Gordon.
 
Inurnment will be at a later date in the Gordon Cemetery. 
 
Visitation will be Monday, February 28, 2011 from 2:00-5:00 PM with a private family visitation at 5:00 PM at Chamberlain Pier Funeral Home.
 
A memorial has been established. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 336, Gordon, NE 69343.

Ada Louise Fry passed away at home in Gordon on February 24, 2011.
 
Ada was born July 7, 1925 in Gordon to William and Rilla Forster. She grew up on the family farm south of Gordon. Ada had just started high school in the fall of 1939, when her father died. She had to quit school and move back to help on the farm. Her family moved to town in 1944 and she worked at the creamery wrapping butter. Ada married Freddie Fry in 1946. They worked on ranches in the area until Freddie was injured in a ranch accident in 1976 and the family moved to town. Ada worked hard all her life in various jobs to support her family.
 
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  Ada enjoyed gardening, putting puzzles together and bird watching. Ada enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
 
Immediate Survivors:

Daughter: Sandra and husband Ed Holderness of Batesland SD.
 
Sons: Joe and wife Sharon Fry of Chadron, NE; Scott Fry of Hay Springs, NE.
 
Twin Sister: Ida and husband Hank Ehlers of Gordon, NE.
 
Grandchildren- 7
Great Grandchildren- 7
Great-Great Grandchildren- 3
Step-Grandchildren- 11

Many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed.
 
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Freddie and one Step granddaughter, two brothers, and four sisters. 
 
Chamberlain Pier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
