03/05/2011 - Edith I. (Pelren) Chubb Jensen

Edith Inez Jensen, age 84, of Crawford, Nebraska died on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford.

She was born in Crawford on July 1, 1926, to Harry and Nellie Pelren. As a young girl she lived with her parents and two brothers in the badlands north of Crawford where she attended a country school until they moved to town. During these years, Edith learned to play the piano and organ which she enjoyed and also played in church for many years.

On December 16, 1945, she married Cecil Chubb, who had just returned from the war on December 12. They made Crawford their home until Cecil died in 1981.

Edith was a homemaker and spent much of her time raising their four children. She loved helping Cecil in the drilling business and was happiest when they were traveling in three states drilling and living in a trailer at the jobsites. Edith drove the truck to get water for the rig.

Eight years after Cecil died, Edith married Harold Jensen. They spent their time living in both Crawford and Twin Falls, Idaho. They also traveled the country which she enjoyed very much.

In addition to her family, a big part of Edith’s life revolved around her faith and her involvement in the Nazarene Church in Crawford. She was a member there since she was eleven and the church had its first service in Cecil’s parent’s house. She believed in the power of prayer and praying was an important part of her life.

Pallbearers for her services are her grandchildren, Skip, Brad, and Jody Chubb; Tracy French, Jamie Simmons, and Tyler Chubb; Kirk Hissam, Jill Vanantwerp, and Troy Hissam.

Edith’s survivors include two daughters, Jewell (Mike) Hissam, of Douglas, Wyoming; Peggy (Steve) Chubb of Sunnyvale, California; two sons, Leonard (Becky) Chubb of Crawford, Nebraska; Bob (Jennifer) Chubb of Lander, Wyoming; brother Jack (Myrna) Pelren of Crawford, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Edith will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Bryce Pelren officiating. Burial will be at the Crawford City Cemetery.
