03/14/2011 - Leola Butzine

Leola Butzine passed away on Wednesday March 9, 2011 in Hay Springs, Nebraska.
 
Funeral Services will be Monday, March 14, 2011, at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Reverend Al Trucano and Reverend Rod Heilbrun officiating. Interment will be in the Hay Springs Cemetery.
           
Memorials may go to the Hay Springs Ambulance Fund or the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.

Leola Myrtle (Gustafson) Butzine was born in Hay Springs, Nebraska on August 22, 1913, to Richard and Blanch (Barhite) Gustafson.  She graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1931 and attended Chadron State College.  She was united in marriage to Lawrence L. Butzine on September, 22, 1935.  To this union two children were born; Larry (Joyce) Butzine of Alliance, Nebraska, and Lois (Robert) Speer of Linwood, Nebraska.
           
She is survived by her two children and spouses, a sister-in-law, Marylee Montgomery of Lincoln, Nebraska, her grandchildren; Kurt (Kelly) Butzine of Canon City, Colorado, Kay (Mike) Wallace of Gering, Nebraska, Paula (Don) Kment, of Schuyler, Nebraska, and Kent (Trisha) Speer, Omaha, Nebraska. There are eleven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
           
Preceding her in death were her husband Lawrence and her parents.
           
Leola was a member of the United Methodist Church, a past matron and member of Eastern Star and secretary and member of Pioneer Manor Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge, enjoyed large family gatherings, trips with Lawrence, and the Chicago Cubs. She was a very loving person to her family and friends.
           
Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
