Funeral Services for Mildred J. Grass, age 57, of Batesland, SD will be Saturday, April 2, 2011 10:00 AM at the Wounded Knee Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD with Reverend Stanley Hollow Horn, Reverend Cecil Weston and Reverend Benny Feather Earring officiating. A one night wake will begin Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Church of God in Wounded Knee, SD. Burial will be at the Porcupine Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
Immediate Survivors:
Daughter: Glenda Blue Bird of Sioux Falls, SD.
Brothers: Duffy Grass, Jr. of Gordon, NE, Carey Grass of Batesland, SD, and John Grass of Valentine, NE.
Sister: Cindy Grass of North Platte, NE.
Adopted Brother: Willard Black Cat.
Adopted Son: Derek Bettelyoun.
Numerous Nieces, Nephews, & Grandkids
Mildred (Joyce) Grass passed away at Durham Transplant Center in Omaha, NE on March 27, 2011. She was born December 10, 1953 in Porcupine, South Dakota to Duffy and Daisy (Forked Butte) Grass. She grew up in Batesland, SD and went to school there and graduated form High School at the Bennett County High School in Martin, SD. Mildred married Glen Blue Bird and they lived in Batesland, SD. Glen passed away in 2009 and Mildred moved to Ogallala, NE where she worked and then moved to North Platte, NE where she lived until her health slowed her down.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements.
