Memorial services for Valda Stasch, age 86, of Helena, MT will be Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the UnitedMethodistChurch in Crawford with Pastor George Kilmer officiating.
A private burial will be Monday, April 18, 2011 in Valentine, NE.

Valda Stasch passed away on April 12, 2011 at St. Peters Hospital in Helena, Montana. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Crawford with Pastor George Kilmer officiating. A private family burial will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 in Valentine, Nebraska.
Val was born on June 11, 1924 to Ray Brown and Gladys Jackson Brown. She was raised and educated in Crookston, Nebraska, later attending business school. In 1943, Valda married James Stanley. To this union, one daughter was born, Linda (Werner) Schmitt of Vista, California. Val and James were later divorced.
Val married Donald Stasch in 1951. He was the mobile bulk agent for Crawford. They had two daughters, Sherilyn Stasch of Basin, Montana and Cydne (Larry) Albers of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Valda worked for the Crawford Community Hospital on Medical records for many years. After Don’s death, Val became the hospital administrator in Valdez, Alaska for seven years. Upon returning to Crawford, she went to work for the Ponderosa Villa. Val made her home in Crawford for sixty years.
After retiring, she became a master of stained glass artistry. Many of which were Grand Champion at the county fairs. She was passionate about her flowers and her yard winning the Crawford Yard award.
Her four grandchildren, Alana (Shawn) Long, Adam Hill, Derreck Albers, and Kendra Albers were her pride and joy. The time she spent with them and talked with them was priceless in her heart. Val was such a kind and compassionate lady. Always caring for others before herself, she taught her daughters to be independent and strong and the importance of family.
Valda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son-in-laws Dennis Hill and Donnie Senner, her granddaughter Katie, brothers Ray and Jiggs Brown and numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by daughters Sherilyn Stasch, Cydne Albers, and Linda Schmitt; her sister Helen (Durrell) Thompson and their children, Kent, Kim, and Kelly. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alana, Adam, Derreck, and Kendra, two great grandsons, Owen and Devon Long, many nieces and Nephews and her dear friend Milford Hoffman and many, many friends.
