04/30/2011 - Larry Don Butzine

Funeral services for Larry Don Butzine, age 72, will be Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating.
 
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM- 8:00 PM at Bates-Gould Funeral Home. The family will be present after 6:00 PM. A service of prayer and sharing in celebration will begin at 7:00 p.m.
 
Burial will be in the Hay Springs Cemetery.
 
Memorials may be made to the Festival of Hope, P.O. Box 377, Scottsbluff, NE 69363; Prairie Haven Hospice, 2409 Box Butte Ave., Alliance, NE 69301; or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Larry Don Butzine, 72, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011at his home in Alliance, NE.
 
He was born to Lawrence and Leola (Gustafson) Butzine in Hay Springs, NE on February 8, 1939.  He attended Hay Springs Schools and graduated in 1957.  He attended the University of Northern Colorado for one year and Chadron State College where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. 
 
He married Joyce DeWitt on September 8, 1957.  To this union two children were born, Kurt Stephen in 1959 and Kay Leann in 1964.
 
He was principal and teacher at District 30 on Mirage Flats in Sheridan County, NE; teacher at Junior High in Hay Springs; teacher at Central Elementary School and principal at Emerson Elementary School in Alliance, NE.  He retired in 1995.  He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, and his family.

Children: Kurt (Kelly) Butzine of Canon, City, CO; Kay (Mike) Wallace of Gering, NE.
 
Grandchildren: Teresa Lilland of Tucson, AZ; Terri (Chris) Feezer and Traci Butzine of Rapid City, SD; Lyndi Stringer of Florence, CO; Morgan and Carson Wallace of Gering, NE.
 
Great-Grandchildren: 5
 
Sister: Lois (Bob) Speer of Linwood, NE.
 
Father-in-law: C. Howard DeWitt of Alliance, NE.
 
Brother-in-law: Howard (Nancy) DeWitt of Frisco, TX.
 
Aunt: Mary Lee Montgomery of Lincoln, NE.
 
Many nieces and nephews.
 
Preceding him in death were his parents, his mother-in-law, Anne DeWitt, and sister-in-law Nancy (DeWitt) Jackson.
