Funeral services for Bennie D. Kozal, age 93, of Hay Springs will be Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the UnitedMethodistChurch in Hay Springs with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating.
 
Burial will be at the HaySpringsCemetery.
 
A memorial has been established for the Hay Springs Fire and Rescue Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Bennie D. Kozal was born on February 2, 1918 and departed from this present life on May 5, 2011. Bennie was born to parents, Nicholas and Frances Kozal of rural Hay Springs.
 
On June 29, 1940, Bennie and Angela Leo Elwood were united in marriage. They were blessed with two children, Joann and Donald Dean. In August of 1946, they moved to town in Hay Springs and in April of 1948, Bennie was offered the job of night policeman and street commissioner. He was promoted to Chief of Police in Hay Springs and held that position for 37 years. He was awarded several awards for duties performed during his time of employment with the City of Hay Springs.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Frances Kozal, four sisters, and five brothers.

Wife: Angela “Barnie” Kozal of Hay Springs, NE.
 
Son: Donald Dean Kozal of Loveland, CO.
 
Daughter: Joann Darlene Cutsor of Omaha, NE.
 
Grandchildren: Gina Rasse of Columbus, NE; Jay Cutsor of Omaha, NE; Jodi Benedict of Lincoln, NE; Jacqueline Bequette of Omaha, NE; Joel Cutsor of Columbus, NE; Kristen Stiner of Bellevue, NE.
 
Great Grandchildren: 13
Great-Great Grandchildren: 6
