Lillian Rosella Case, 87, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center of Idaho Falls.
She was born on June 25, 1923 in Alliance, Nebraska to Zachariah and Mary Ann Partridge. She lived with her parents and siblings in the Alliance and Hemingford, Nebraska area while growing up. She spent many of her summers visiting her favorite uncle, Phillip Pitts, who had a farm in rural Hemingford. She had fond memories of her years spent with her cousins and other relatives and friends who lived around that area.
On March 31, 1940, Lillian married Claude Case in Chadron, Nebraska. They lived in the Chadron area and in eastern Nebraska until 1944 when they were separated for two years while her husband served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, the couple made their home in Chadron and then moved to Tekamah, Nebraska. In their midlife, work took them to Morgan, Utah for a short time and then to Libby, Montana for many years. In 1973, they relocated to Batesland, South Dakota/Gordon, Nebraska areas where they farmed/ranched. After her husband passed away, Lillian moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where she lived close to her daughter, Jeanne, until her passing.
Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, crocheting, playing card games and board games with her family, visiting friends and family, traveling, dancing, music, reading, and in her younger years riding horses.
Lillian was a homemaker and took good care of her family. She joined the Baptist Church after her marriage and was a member of the First Baptist Church most of her life. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school when her children were younger. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and generously served in that capacity for many years. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with friends in her craft club and playing cards.
Her survivors include two sons; Phil (Lisa) Case of Newport Beach, California, Malcolm Case of Blair, Nebraska; two daughters, Nancy (Keith) Fairbairn of Prescott, Arizona, and Jeanne Mortensen of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her grandchildren, Robert (Susan) Case, Phillip (Candice) Case, Jeffrey (Donna) Case, Kent (Jennifer) Fairbairn, Kyle (Carrie) Fairbairn, Matthew Case, Adam (Lynn) Case, Zachary Case, Kevan Winters, Kimberly (Kevin) McCroden, Kory Winters, Kurtis (Britt) Winters, Jared (Christie) Case, Jennifer Case, Jacob (Luciana) Case, Joshua Case, and Jordan Case. She also leaves 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, of 59 years, her youngest son Robert Wesley, an infant son (stillborn) Ronnie Ray, her parents, Zachariah and Mary Ann Partridge, her siblings, Phillip “Ted”, John, Ann, Mary, Robert, and Margaret “Dolly”. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeffrey Case, Kent Fairbairn, Kyle Fairbairn, Zachary Case, Kevin Winters, Kory Winters, Kurtis Winters, and Joshua Case. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Rob Case, Adam Case, and Jordan Case and granddaughters Kimberly McCroden and Jennifer Case.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15 from 7:30 – 9:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 16 at 2:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the services.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
