Funeral services for Mary I. Hartman, age 92, a former resident of Oelrichs, SD will be Friday, July 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska with Reverend Shane Ash officiating.
Burial will follow in the Smithwick Cemetery, Smithwick, South Dakota.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Country Kitchen in Chadron, Nebraska for lunch and fellowship at 11:30 A.M. on Friday prior to funeral services.
Mary I. Hartman, age 92, a former resident of Oelrichs, South Dakota and more recently of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born June 7, 1919, in Ewing, Nebraska, the daughter of Clarence VanBriggle and Amanda Clarinda Conner VanBriggle. Mary and her husband, Bud, operated their cattle ranch and wheat farm north of Oelrichs, South Dakota for many years. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandma as well as a faithful follower of Christ.

Daughters: Mary Sandra Owens and husband, Ron, Chugiak, Alaska, Bonnie Shuttlesworth and husband, Bob, Oelrichs, South Dakota, and Twila Ash and husband, Ken, Ft. Scott, Kansas.
Foster-Daughter: Lucy Salway, Maricopa, Arizona.
Eight grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, Mark Owens and wife, Sherri (Courtney, Garrett), Melisa Gates and husband, Shawn (Brandon, Devon, Jason), David Owens and wife, Dana (Dreanna, Danielle, Darci), LaWana Gates and husband, Montee (Kiana, Kailey, Kiya, Kenzie), Robb Shuttlesworth, Robonna Kelley and husband, Scott (Mikayla, Cade, Hope, Tessa), Angela Chance and husband Brent (Alec, Nate, Kole), Shane Ash and wife Ashley (Samuel, Addison); and four foster-grandchildren, Larry Dean, Lisa, Rosita, and Lauriene.
Sister: Una Bell Landes, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Peter “Bud” Hartman on October 22, 2010; a granddaughter, Keeta Owens, brother, Lowell VanBriggle and a sister, Everal Fauske.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
