Funeral services for Tom K. Ainslie of Hay Springs will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Burial will be at the Hay Springs Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary in Hay Springs.
Tom was born to Phy and Cleo Ainslie on September 11, 1954, in Rushville, Nebraska. He was the youngest of five children. He graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1973. After graduating, he married Debra (Johns) Ainslie. They then moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where he worked at the COOP. In 1974, his first son was born, John Cris.
In 1975, they moved to Gordon, Nebraska where he started to work for KN Energy. While there, he became a volunteer fireman and later an EMT. In 1977, his second child was born, Tereasa Ann. Then in 1979, his third child was born, Connie Lou. Tom and Debra divorced in 1979.
In 1980, Tom remarried Jan (Downing) Ainslie. They then moved to Rushville, Nebraska in 1988. While there he continued to work for KN and joined the fire department. In 1989, his fourth child was born, Kylie K. Then in 1991, his fifth child, Courtney Lynn was born. His sixth child, Steven James was born in 1994.
In 1999, he left KN to work as a nursing assistant at the Gordon Memorial Hospital. In 2001, he divorced Jan and moved to Hay Springs, Nebraska. He then joined the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, motorcycling, and helping friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father and four grandparents. His survivors include; Brothers, Dennis (Linda), Ivan (Pat), and Wayne (Doreen); Sister, Nancy; Children, John (Dawn), Tereasa (Ronnie) Herman, Connie Shipley, Kylie, Courtney, and Steven; Grandchildren, Houston, Michael, Joseph, Brook, and Jaylie.
A memorial has been established for the Rushville American Legion. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.
