Carol A. Koski, 59, of Chadron, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Crestview Care Center in Chadron. She was born on August 30, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to Jack and Olga Koski. She was the second generation of Polish immigrants born in the United States. She was proud of her Polish heritage and tried to keep it alive.

 

In her late twenties, Carol decided to leave Chicago and move to Southern California. She acquired a degree in business management at the University of Phoenix, Southern California and worked for several companies in managements positions.

 

In 2000, she met her life partner, Rollin (Ron) P. Holton, who passed away on June 20, 2011. They started a business specializing in manufacturing hemp products, like skate/snow boards and sail boats.  Carol also completed an education as a floral designer.

 

In 2002, Carol and Ron moved to Chadron, Nebraska, where they purchased twenty-five acres on Slim Buttes Road. Their dream was to build a healing center for Native American youth to help them recover from alcohol and drug problems. Carol also had an online business to sell her floral arrangements. Another one of her projects was organic greenhouse gardening. She provided support for Lakota ceremonies through the purchase of teepees, and she offered employment and skills building for Native youth.

 

Carol was always busy maintaining her flower garden, and taking care of her pets. She loved to cook and entertain people. She was a very generous person and compassionate for the less fortunate. She will be deeply missed by everybody who knew her.

 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and Ron Holton. There are no known survivors. A Native American ceremony is planned for September.
