Funeral services for Joan Eberspecher of Crawford, Nebraska will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crawford with Father Bernard Berger officiating. Burial will be at the Crawford Cemetery. A Luncheon will follow the committal service at the church. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the church. There will be a visitation held at Chamberlain Chapel in Crawford.
Joan Norman Eberspecher, 76, of Crawford died Wednesday August 17, 2011 at the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford.
She was born on June 26, 1935 in Crawford to Andrew Norman and Leona (Wasserburger) Norman. She spent her early years on a farm near Whitney. Joan attended rural school and graduated from Crawford High school in 1952.
On March 26, 1955 Joan married Jerry Eberspecher in Crawford, Nebraska. They spent their entire life in the Harrison and Crawford areas. To this union, four children were born, Vicky, Bill, Ronda, and Chris. Chris died in an accident in 1991. After Chris’s death, she worked briefly as family counselor for Health and Human Services until health issues forced her to retire. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, swift wit, definite opinions and a big heart. She was a hard worker and loved being outside in her yard and garden. She will also be remembered for welcoming every kid that came through her front door.
She is survived by her husband Jerry. Three children and their spouses, Matt and Vicky Yant of Alliance, Nebraska; Bill and Robin Eberspecher of Crawford, Nebraska; and Ronda and Jim Norgard of Fort Collins, Colorado. Grandchildren, Anna and Chris Yant, Jeff, Mike, and Casey Norgard, Jessica and Jeremy Eberspecher. Brother Ron Norman, four aunts, one uncle, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Andrew Norman, Step father Bill Ostermeyer, mother Leona Ostermeyer, a brother Butch Norman, and of course her youngest son Chris.
A memorial has been established for the Crawford Fire Hall. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
