Devona E. Price, 85, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
She was born January 13, 1926 at Hemingford to John E. and Edna (Annen) Roland. She was a graduate of Hemingford High School and received her teaching certificate from Chadron State College. She then taught school for several years in the Hemingford area.
On October 18, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harold Price at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hemingford. She worked with her husband on their family farm west of Hemingford where they raised their family. From 1970 to 1996 Devona worked in the cafeteria of Hemingford Public Schools. In addition to taking care of “her kids” at the school, her hobbies included crocheting, sewing and gardening. In her later years, she grew especially fond of hugs and holding her visitors thumbs so they wouldn’t leave her.
Her survivors are her children and their families, her son, Roger Price of Houston, TX and his children, Danette and Steve Bolton of Oceanside, CA and their children, Bailey, Chase and Mariah, and Travis and Jamie Burke of Thornton, CO and their children, Gage and Tate, son, Ralph Price and friend, Carol Nourse of Norfolk, VA, daughter, Marcia and husband George Bremer of Hemingford, and their children, Kellie and Chris Hanson of Rapid City, SD, and their children, Hailey, Aaron and Alex, and Andy and Courtney Bremer of Alliance and their children, Joe and Charlotte, her son, Craig and wife Julie Price of Chadron, and their children, Tony and Trisha Price of Chadron and their children, Jackson and Jennie, Todd Price of Chadron and Jordan Price, Greata, Italy US Naval Base, daughter, Janet and husband Dennis Clark of Alliance, and son Brad and wife Alice Price of Papillion and their children, Taylor and Robert.
In addition to her husband, who passed away in 1981, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Alvin and her sisters, LaVonne Zeller and Darlene Homrighausen.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 2, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Bridget Catholic Church with Father Lou Nollette officiating.
Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.
A Rosary service will be at 7:00 PM on Thursday at St. Bridget Church.
A memorial has been established.
Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
